Morgantown Rod and Gun Club Meeting Minutes February 26th, 2025

Meeting Called to Order:

·         7:02 pm by President Brian Ink.

Members in Attendance:

·         There were 16 members and seven new applicants in attendance.

Minutes of Last Meeting:

·         Read by Secretary Josh Creswell, motion to accept by Donny Myers, seconded by Lee Maxwell.

Treasurer Report:

·         Read by Treasurer Jeff Creswell, motion to accept by Bob Grimley, seconded by Jason Ink.

·         Income came from the shotgun shoot, shoot kitchen, shoot raffle, dues, donations, and raffle tickets, late fees, and merchandise.

·         Expenses included electric, shotgun shoot, shoot kitchen, shoot raffle, shotgun shells, and the credit card for porch panels.

New Business:

·         Somebody is leaving a mess near the 25 ft target with large amounts of brass left on the ground.  It is believed to be a person making YouTube videos at the club, but the person has not been identified.  It was determined that filming videos at the club is acceptable provided the people are cleaning up afterwards.

·         George Emanuel brought it to the club’s attention that the NRA elections close next month.  People who have been members for over five years are eligible to vote.  The former vice president embezzled a large amount of money from the organization creating a scandal that led to the organization trying to file for bankruptcy.  The “Take Back Our NRA” Facebook page has 24 recommended candidates.

New Members:

·         There were seven new applicants, Haley Baer, sponsored by Melissa Russell, Anthony Baer and Lori Spera, both sponsored by Garrett Russell, Frank Spera Jr, sponsored by Sharon Baer, Shawn Schneider, sponsored by Wayne Winther, and Justin Cassel and Jared Reich, both sponsored by Josh Creswell.

Old Business:

·          The outhouse passed inspection.

Unfinished Business:

·         The club has agreed to co-sponsor an event for Whitetails Unlimited on April 26^th.  Tickets are $45 and $25 for spouses and juniors under 15.  There is a dinner, games, and gun raffles and winners get their guns that night.  The club will get 50% of the proceeds, potentially $6000.  It costs $900 for a table which comes with a gun.  There is also a kid’s drawing.  The club will buy a table and use the gun for the member’s only raffle this fall.  Jeff, Josh, and Brian met up with a representative from the event to get tickets and flyers.  The representative later responded to the club with a full menu for the dinner.  The club will provide desserts and may be able to get desserts donated.  Six to Eight volunteers from the club are needed to help set up Friday night and eight to twelve volunteers will be needed for the event.

·         Raffle tickets are still available.  The drawing will be at the April shotgun shoot.

·         On March 8^th, the club will be closed from 10am until 4pm for the Scouts.

Committee Reports:

·         Harvey Horst will get more shells. 

·         At the shotgun shoot, the center shot was finally won.  The prize was over $400.
