Morgantown Rod and Gun Club Meeting Minutes June 24th, 2026

Meeting Called to Order:

·         7:04 pm by President Brian Ink.

Members in Attendance:

·         There were 11 members and one new applicant in attendance.

Minutes of Last Meeting:

·         Read by Secretary Josh Creswell, motion to accept by Dalton Ink, seconded by Rainy Myers.

Treasurer Report:

·         Read by Treasurer Jeff Creswell, motion to accept by Bob Grimley, seconded by Jason Ink.

·         There was no income.

·         Expenses included electric, camara subscription, and the credit card for PO box rent, propane, a new TV, and Starlink internet.

New Business:

·         The club received a new tax assessment for the property.  There was a large change in value with the club grounds new value assessed at $514,200 and the club house going from $0 to $76,000.  It was discussed how this may affect taxes in the long term, but in the short term, the township is likely to reduce millage to keep taxes the same amount initially, then gradually raise it over time.  There was a general agreement that this is not a fair assessment since the club house has no running water; however, the grounds are 14.4 acers.  Members recommended that someone call the assessment office and appeal the decision.

·         Over the next month, the club will send out member’s only raffle tickets.  There may be a need for volunteers to help fold letters and stuff envelopes.

New Members:

·         There was one new applicant, Heath Lawrence, sponsored by Colton Boquist.

Old Business:

·         The club purchased a new TV and hung it where the dry erase board used to be.

·         George Emanuel canceled his pistol class.

Unfinished Business:

·         The club has not yet received the check from the Whitetails event.

·         For the proposed park bench donation to Pool Forge Park, Lee Maxwell’s wife will get a form for the club to fill out.

·         Jeff is working with Brian’s accountant for a tax number.  He is planning on going in person to her office on July 1^st.

·         The club got a price on new steel stools from Hillside.  They would cost $923 each.  The club agreed that this was too much money.  It was noted that the design needs to match the bolt pattern on the floor.

·         Jeff and Josh talked with the Holliday Inn and the Morgantown Event Center.  The rooms are large enough, they supply tables, and the Holliday Inn restaurant can cater the event with appropriate food choices.  Alcohol is permitted.  They will meet in person from the event center tomorrow to get more information.
