Morgantown Rod and Gun Club Meeting Minutes April 22nd, 2026

Meeting Called to Order:

·         7:00 pm by President Brian Ink.

Members in Attendance:

·         There were 10 members attendance.  There were no new or returning applicants.

Minutes of Last Meeting:

·         Read by Secretary Josh Creswell, motion to accept by Dalton Ink, seconded by Donny Myers.

Treasurer Report:

·         Read by Treasurer Jeff Creswell, motion to accept by Lee Maxwell, seconded by Jason Ink.

·         Income came from the shotgun shoot, shoot kitchen, shoot raffle, Spring raffle tickets, dues, and merchandise.

·         Expenses included electric, shotgun shoot, shoot kitchen, shoot raffle, septic inspection, and the credit card for camaras, Starlink internet, polo shirts, a file box, Whitetails Unlimited tables and the raffle gift card.

New Business:

·         Bob Vandergrift shared with the club that he received a flyer asking for donations to the PA Gun Rights organizing from individuals.  It was noted that anyone interested could ask George Emanuel if he has heard of this group.

·         A man is interested in renting the club for a business team building event.  The club is not for rent but would accept a donation.

·         It was noted that the club has almost $50,000 in savings.  Club members proposed that the money used for upgrades to the club or projects.  Putting in running water is an issue due to the outhouse.  The electronic gate was mentioned for reconsidering, The driveway could be paved in small installments to space out the cost.  Brian expressed interest in the gate and mentioned that running electric to the gate is not a problem since the transformer is right there.

·         The fall raffle was discussed.  The two guns received from the Whitetails event may be too close in model for both to be used as prizes.  The club may need to look into getting a second gun and save the other one from the event.

·         Items for the next workday were discussed and included a roof on the new pistol range, cleaning the rust off of the doors, getting new stools for the range, and working on the structure for the shotgun pattern device.

New Members:

·         There were no new members.

Old Business:

·         Five Blink camaras will be installed to be used with the Starlink internet service for surveillance.  The images can be accessed by phone and are stored for 60 days.  The internet could also be used to adjust the heat remotely.  The cost is $50 per month for Starlink and $100 per year for Blink.  Rich Corday, Paul Sherman, and Jeff will install the camaras soon.

·         The Whitetails Unlimited event went well with around 120 attendees.  The club should know how much was earned in around a month.  There were less people than last year due to the passing of the person who regularly provided the food and brought in people from his church.

Unfinished Business:

·         The driveway will be fixed with millings Saturday, April 24^th and Sunday, April 25^th.  This could be postponed if there is a rain downpour.

·         Club leaders talked to Clyde from Whitetailes Unlimited about hosting an event closer to the club.  He stated that he wants an event in Lancaster County, but it is difficult since most places do not allow alcohol.  Club members will check prices at local spots such as the Holliday Inn in Morgantown.  The club was asked for any other recommendations.  The space must cost less than $1000.  The Honeybrook Legion and Churchtown fire hall were mentioned as possibilities.

·         The club discussed when would be a good time to hold a local Whitetails event.  There is one near Coatesville in September and the Kutztown event is firmly held in April.  The time also could not compete with various hunting seasons.  November was mentioned as a possibility.

·         There was an error in last month’s minutes.  The club did not get a tax number as stated.  Jeff is still in the process of getting the tax number so the club can file.  Once the club has this number, it can take the money out of the checking account and find a better way to hold money such as in a CD or mutual funds.
