Morgantown Rod and Gun Club Meeting Minutes July 22nd, 2026

Meeting Called to Order:

·         7:00 pm by President Brian Ink.

Members in Attendance:

·         There were 16 members and one returning applicant in attendance.

Minutes of Last Meeting:

·         Read by Secretary Josh Creswell, motion to accept by Sharon Baer, seconded by Colton Boquist.

Treasurer Report:

·         Read by Treasurer Jeff Creswell, motion to accept by Peter Schroll, seconded by Lee Maxwell.

·         Income came from an application fee and the Whitetails event.

·         Expenses included electric, taxes, and the credit card for gas for the mower, a background check, a thermostat, Starlink internet, and raffle tickets.

New Business:

·         The Scouts will be camping at the club from October 16th until October 18^th.  They will be using the club for archery as well.  Jeff mentioned that he spoke with leaders from another troop that had previously camped at the club and are interested in returning.

·         Lee Maxwell brought it to the club’s attention that Pool Forge Park will be having their community day on September 12^th and are hosting their regular turtle race.  The club agreed to donate $250.  The event will have the club mentioned on social media.  Tickets were made available to members to purchase plastic turtles that will be “raced” along the creek.

·         The Ink family as well as Donny Myers will not be at the next shotgun shoot in August.  Kerry and Sheri Mindy offered to handle kitchen duties while others will be able to help conduct the shoot.

New Members:

·         One returning applicant, Heath Lawrence, sponsored by Colton Boquist, was voted into the club.  Brian and Jeff discussed club rules.

Old Business:

·         The Whitetail’s Unlimited event check arrived.

Unfinished Business:

·         The club voted in a favor of donating $1860 for a bench with a plaque at Pool Forge Park.  Lee Maxwell had brought this idea to the club at a previous meeting.  It was discussed that the plaque could be in honor of club members who have passed since it is intended to be a memorial.  Kerry Mindy put forth the idea of holding a trout derby at Pool Forge; however, they already host one.

·         Jeff met with the account who is helping the club become reinstated with a tax number.  He stated that the meeting went well and that the club is getting close to obtaining this.

·         Jeff and Josh attempted to meet with a representative for the event space at the Auto Mall in Morgantown, but they were not able to meet with the person due to miscommunication.  They did not get a price for this space but will attempt to contact him again.

·         Brian took the stool that the club wants made a person for a price to get them produced.

Committee Reports:

·         The club has enough shells for the time being.

Remarks:

·         The club thanked Lee Maxwell for connecting the club with Pool Forge Park for the donated bench.
