Morgantown Rod and Gun Club Meeting Minutes May 27nd, 2026

Meeting Called to Order:

·         7:00 pm by President Brian Ink.

Members in Attendance:

·         There were 14 members attendance.  There were no new or returning applicants.

Minutes of Last Meeting:

·         Read by Secretary Josh Creswell, motion to accept by Dalton Ink, seconded by George Emanuel

Treasurer Report:

·         Read by Treasurer Jeff Creswell, motion to accept by Donny Myers, seconded by Jason Ink.

·         Income came from dues, late fees and merchandise.

·         Expenses included electric, raffle gun, road work, and the credit card for Starlink internet.

New Business:

·         This club would like to get an estimate on three new stainless, powder coated swivel stools for the range.

·         Lee Maxwell stated that Pool Forge Park is looking for an organization to donate with a plaque for $1800.

·         On June 13^th, George will be holding an RSO class at the club.  The next class after that will be around September and may be basic pistol.  He could do more classes, but needs at least two people to attend.

·         George offered to purchase a 50-inch TV to connect with the internet for use in classes.  Club members think it is a good idea and the club agreed to purchase it for general use.

·         George alerted members on potential changes in gun laws and reiterated the importance to supporting organizations to help protect gun rights.  Marijuana will be taken off the prohibiting factors for owning a gun; however, holding a medical marijuana card will still deem a person ineligible to own guns.  Illinois will hear a case that could left their ban on assault weapons.  President Trump is working to restore 2^nd amendment laws and gun owners could see positive reforms.  One of the organizations mentioned that is worthy of support is Fire Arms Owners Against Crime, which fought for gun rights in Montgomery County in Pennsylvania.  He mentioned that the battle for gun rights is as old as America itself, with the battle of Lexington and Concord having been fought over gun rights.

New Members:

·         There were no new members.

Old Business:

·         The Whitetails event this year was down 90 people.  The club earned $4254.94.  Next year will most likely have more people since many people were at a memorial for the person who made the food for past events.

·         The driveway is fixed with millings.  Also, the grates were cleared and a swale was made to redirect water runoff

·         Jeff, Rich Corday, and Paul Sherman installed Starlink internet and blink camaras.  These are no up and running, but some still need permanent power supplied to them.

·         The club purchased a second gun for the next raffle since both guns from the Whitetails event were very similar and will be split over two raffles.

Unfinished Business:

·         The club has not heard back from the person that was interested in renting the club for a teambuilding event.

·         The tax situation still needs to be rectified.  Jeff will speak with Brian’s accountant for help with getting a new tax number.

Committee Reports:

·         The club does not need shells at this time.

Remarks:

·         The club thanked Donny, Jason and Dalton for their work on the driveway.
