Morgantown Rod and Gun Club Meeting Minutes April 23rd, 2025

Meeting Called to Order:

·         7:00 pm by President Brian Ink.

Members in Attendance:

·         There were 20 members and three returning applicants in attendance.

Minutes of Last Meeting:

·         Read by Secretary Josh Creswell, motion to accept by Rainy Myers, seconded by Jason Ink.

Treasurer Report:

·         Read by Treasurer Jeff Creswell, motion to accept by Donny Myers, seconded by Garrett Hershberger.

·         Income came from the shotgun shoot, shoot kitchen, shoot raffle, dues, application fees, merchandise, and raffle tickets.

·         Expenses included electric, shotgun shoot, shoot kitchen, shoot raffle, Spring taxes, Thunder Wash, and the credit card for background checks, porch panels, an inverter, the clay bird thrower, and two banquet tables.

New Business:

·         Thunder Wash cleaned the range and clubhouse for $500.

·         Jeff sold a banquet table for the upcoming Whitetails event to Reitenower and Mellissa Russell also sold a table.

·         Jeff talked with a company that could make a new, card operated gate.  The price estimate was $9500.  The company is already making a similar gate for another gun club.  300 member cards and a cellphone-based program are included in the price.  It automatically opens for emergency vehicles.  The gate would save around $200 per year in postage and new membership cards for renewals.

·         George Emanuel will be holding a “Pistol Beyond Basics” class emphasizing self defense on June 14^th at the club.  The class will cost $100.  The club will promote the class through email and on the website.

·         The club’s lawn mower was serviced and is ready.  Josh and Jeff will start mowing the club in around two weeks.

New Members:

·         Three returning applicants, Gregory Knies, sponsored by Dalton Ink, Amanda Mercer, sponsored by Jason McDowell, and Jeffrey Skinner, sponsored by Rainy Myers, were voted into the club.

Old Business:

·         A workday was held April 19^th.  Eight members participated.  Staining was done, a window was replaced in the shotgun house, woodpecker holes were filled, fire wood was cut, and the sides of the range were cut down and pushed back.

Unfinished Business:

·         The Whitetails Unlimited event will be held this Saturday, April 26^th.  150 people are expected to attend.  The club was told that all the food would be provided including desserts.

Remarks:

·         Last month’s shotgun shoot netted over $400 and had great attendance.
