Morgantown Rod and Gun Club Meeting Minutes October 22nd, 2025

Meeting Called to Order:

·         7:00 pm by President Brian Ink.

Members in Attendance:

·         There were 16 members, two returning applicants, and three new applicants in attendance. 

Minutes of Last Meeting:

·         Read by Secretary Josh Creswell, motion to accept Bob Grimley, seconded by Dalton Ink.

Treasurer Report:

·         Read by Treasurer Jeff Creswell, motion to accept by Sharon Baer, seconded by Bob Grimley.

·         Income came from the shotgun shoot, shoot kitchen, shoot raffle, dues, merchandise, application fee, and IRS form refund.

·         Expenses included electric, shotgun shoot, shoot kitchen, shoot raffle, insurance, propane tank rent, and the credit card for raffle guns and a background check.

New Business:

·         The club received fliers from Pennsylvania Woods and Waters.

·         Sharon and Melissa Russell want to organize a coyote hunt and could work with the Fox Pro organization.

·         The old Facebook page needs to be taken down.  No club members are sure how to delete a page with the login information.

·         The new Facebook page needs to be promoted by email.

·         Jeff made charts to show data from past shotgun shoots.  The results are that attendance has been steadily dwindling over the past few years.  August especially has been having low turnouts.  It was noted that the club could promotes shoots more on Facebook and by fliers at sportsman shops and gun stores.

New Members:

·         Two returning applicants were voted into the club, Thomas Keesey, sponsored by Jeff Creswell, and Aidan Samuel, sponsored by Connor Holloran.  There were three new applicants, John Yount and Stephanie Yount, both sponsored by Bob Grimley, and Robert Klinger, Jr., sponsored by Sharon Baer.

Old Business:

·         The club’s NRA membership was renewed.

·         There was a good turnout at the recent workday.  Sixteen people came to help.  Work on the extended pistol range was started.  More railroad ties are needed to finish.  Staining was done, new signage was placed around the range, and a tree limb was removed from the walking path.

Unfinished Business:

·         The tax reinstatement form was denied for the third time, this time due to the wrong form being used.  The form was for a new club, not to reactive a club with a prior tax number.  Brain will reach out to an account that he knows for assistance.

·         The club agreed to participate in next year’s Whitetails Unlimited event.

·         There was more discussion on the proposed shotgun pattern frame.  It was determined that it should be semipermanent, such as something made from concrete that the frame could slide in.  The old shooting bench could be moved out back for use with this frame.  RW recommended that the size should be over 30 inches square.  It could have a cable on which to hang the targets.  This project has been put on hold until next Spring.

Committee Reports:

·         The merchandise committee got a price on stickers and other items and will have them made.

Remarks:

·         The club thanked members who participated in the work day.
