Morgantown Rod and Gun Club Meeting Minutes May 28th, 2025

Meeting Called to Order:

·         7:00 pm by President Brian Ink.

Members in Attendance:

·         There were 13 members, two returning applicants, and two new applicants in attendance.

Minutes of Last Meeting:

·         Read by Secretary Josh Creswell, motion to accept by Jason Ink, seconded by Donny Myers.

Treasurer Report:

·         Read by Treasurer Jeff Creswell, motion to accept by Rainy Myers, seconded by George Emanuel.

·         Income came from the dues, application fees, and merchandise.

·         Expenses included electric, propane, and the credit card for Whitetails event shirts, workday supplies, signs, deer plot feed, workday food, background checks, wood, tools, Whitetails sign, shed storage, and mower servicing.

New Business:

·         None.

New Members:

·         Two returning applicants, Lance Miller, sponsored by Dennis Miller, and Arnold Cohen, sponsored by Frank Henry were voted into the club.  There were two new applicants, Nicholas Stolz and Chad Eberly, both sponsored by Paul Stolz Jr.

Old Business:

·         The Whitetails Unlimited event was a success.  There were seven volunteers for the Friday night set-up and 13 volunteers for the Saturday event.  Seven big rut tables were sold including two that were purchased by the club. The two guns from the big rut tables will be used for future raffles.  Over 200 people attended.  The club earned $8,474 and paperwork is underway to declare the proceeds as a grant and state how the money will be used.  The club was asked to participate again next year.  The money should be received within the next few weeks.

Unfinished Business:

·         George Emanuel will be holding a “Beyond the Basics” pistol class on Saturday, June 14^th at the club from 8 am until around 3 to 5 pm.  This is a progressive course that will contain three or four classes, this being the first.  The classes will teach how to become competent with the concealed carry and use of a pistol including withdrawing from the holster.  All spots are still available and signing up can be done on the NRA website and at gemaunel.com although this is not an NRA course.

·         Rob Dillow will be holding a basic pistol class on Saturday June 21^st.  There was some confusion and it was clarified that it is an in-person course being held at the club.  A correction will be emailed to club members.  This is also available at the NRA website.

·         Another company gave a quote for the purposed new card-controlled gate system at $6,000.  It was determined that the club is not interested in pursuing this option at this time.
